During this historic time in our country and in our world, I think we need to remember that God is still in charge. He always has been. Nothing happens that He does not know about and have full control over. There is comfort in that. If we start every day knowing that nothing is going to happen today that God is not already aware of, we can loosen our grip and trust in Him. We can relax in the knowledge that our Heavenly Father is in control. Nothing will happen outside of His will.

The bible offers many Scriptures on the subject of God being in control. I think the ones I like best are in Philippians. Though you might not see these verses as having anything to do with God being in control, look a little deeper. How much control does it take to promise peace to someone? You've probably heard the verses a thousand times, probably recently, but the words are so relevant, I think they should be memorized by every Christian. There is strength, power and peace in these words. I pray they speak to you today.

Better days are coming.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7, ESV)
